During a YPPT project, children…
Make the puppets
We provide each young person with everything they need to design and make a puppet, from sculpting faces to sewing clothes.
Paint the set
Children collaborate to design and paint sets and props for their production.
Rehearse the show
Children work together, learning to manipulate the puppets and operate our high-tech stages.
Stage a performance
The project culminates in a performance of the class’s show.
A full YPPT project…
Lasts 6–10 months.
Is overseen by a YPPT-approved project leader.
Is entirely child-led, with all puppets and sets created by the children.
Has roles for every child, from voice acting and puppetry to lighting, sound and stage management.

Intergenerational projects
Our intergenerational projects bring older and younger puppeteers together. Older volunteers create puppets and sets for use in rehearsals and performances for the local community.

Away days
Looking for the benefits of a puppet project for your employees? Plan an away day with us.

Free resources
Want a project, but actually only have five children, one afternoon, and zero budget? We know it's not always possible to for schools to run one of our longer projects, so here are some fun free resources you can use in your own classroom!
Project leaders
All of our projects are led by YPPT-approved project leaders, who guide the children through every aspect of the projects, from puppetmaking to performance. Our project leaders come from a wide range of backgrounds including performing arts, education and visual arts.
All our current projects already have project leaders, but we’re always excited to hear from prospective project leaders for future work! Download the information pack below and get in touch for a chat if you’re interested in working with us.
