writing about the yPPT

Some of the children in 6LW at Shirley Primary School have been looking forward to their performances in their writing tasks recently:

"In the puppet project, my role is a narrator. Our story is call 'My Sister's Feet' and we made puppets. We are going to perform it to the school and parents. I am narrator 2 along with two of my friends who are narrator 1 and narrator 3. I am glad to be a narrator as I am a confident reader and am doing it with my friends.

When I heard Caitlin [project leader] say my name for narrator,  I was so excited as I love to read and get to sit and watch the show. As well as this, I am also kind of nervous since I have to read in front of a large audience. I really hope everyone likes our performance which we spent the whole year on."

And from her friend:

"My role is Narrator 3 and there are three narrators. As a narrator you explain what's happening in the story as it goes along. In this story there is a little girl who is not yet five and no higher than a cricket's knee who gets her feet bound, crushed and broken until they're half the size they should be.

I feel ok about the show because I'm not shy and even if I don't learn all the words, I can disguise my script as a book. But I'm also a but nervous in case I mess up or make a mistake. Let's just hope that everyone does well and that the show is a huge success.

And lastly, from a voice actor from the class:

"My role in the puppet project is to do the voice of Foo-Chin in scenes 1, 2 and 7. I think it is going to be a hard job because I will have to practice my script a lot and I'm going to have to talk a lot in the play once we start it.

I feel nervous because I'm going to be talking and everyone is going to hear me but I'm also very excited because I think it's going to be very fun. I also think it's going to be nice to show the things we have made to our parents. Overall, I think it's going to be fun to do and everybody is going to enjoy watching the puppets."
